All of our products have been designed to make the fitment as easy as possible. Some are easier to fit than others, we have tried and tested all our products for fitment.
Some cars will need the under tray to be removed, some you will need to remove bolts / screws from the bottom of your bumper, sometimes there is no need to remove anything.
please check you have all the relevant tools before starting the job.
Checking your delivery.
When you receive your splitter it will be pre-drilled and include the fitting kit required, usually in a green sealed bag in the end of the polythene tubing.
Make sure everything is there and familiarise yourself with the contents.
Tools Required,
Now you need to get your tools together, you will need the following:-
1x Trolley Jack
2x Axle Stands
4x Clamps
1x Drill (cordless if possible)
1x 3mm Drill Bit
1x 7mm Drill Bit
1x 10mm Spanner
1x Set of Allen keys
T30 Torx bit.
(If you don’t have any clamps then just ask a friend to assist with lining the splitter up and holding it in place.)
Step One - Jacking
Firstly you need to get the front end of your car up in the air to gain access to the bottom of your bumper.
We are lucky enough to have the use of a set of mechanics ramps but if you’re not that lucky then jack and prop the front up on a set of axle stands and ensure its safe to continue.
Step Two - Clamping the splitter in place
We normally use 2 small spring clamps either side to hold the splitter in place. If you don’t have any of these an extra pair of hands will do just as well.
Once the splitter is clamped / held in place make sure you are happy that it is central.
All our splitters are designed and shaped to the specific car so will only really fit in one place.
The important part here is to make sure the back edge of each end of the splitter is in line with the wheel arch section of the bumper.
Step Three - Drilling
Once you are happy that the splitter is in the correct place it’s time to start drilling the holes..
As we said earlier all the holes are predrilled in the majority of our splitters, so you can use these as a guide where to drill.
Now it’s up to you if you want to use a marker pen to mark where the holes need to be, remove the splitter, drill the holes then re clamp the splitter in place. Or do as we do and drill through the hole in the splitter.
Take care to ensure the splitter doesn’t move during this process.
Use the 3mm drill initially, you can then see where these drill holes fall and it will give you an idea if the area is accessible or not, which is where the large torx screws will be placed, and if it is or there are any obstructions it will highlight which fixings will go in which position.
Drill all position that can be accessed out to 7mm.
Step Four - Bolting
Now all the holes are drilled you can start bolting the splitter in place.
The bolts go up from the underside of the splitter, through the splitter, through the bumper, then a washer on top, then the Nyloc Nut.
There is no requirement for a washer underneath the splitter as the bolts have one built in.
Tighten these by hand only, do NOT use a drill to tighten them as this will cause the stainless bolt to abrade with the stainless nut and lock them together.
Any positions
Step Five - Admiring your handy work
Now your splitter is all fitted you need to remove your car from the axle stands, being just as careful as in Step 1 and see the fruit of your labour.
